Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Layer
- 1 box (18.3 oz) brownie mix
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup water
Cheesecake Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Caramel & Toppings
- 1 jar (12 oz) caramel sauce
- Optional toppings: chopped nuts or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Make the Brownies: Preheat your oven according to the brownie mix package instructions. In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix with vegetable oil, eggs, and water. Mix until just combined. Pour the batter into a prepared square baking pan and bake until set and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean. Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting into bite-sized cubes.
- Prepare Cheesecake Filling: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy. In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated, creating a light and fluffy cheesecake filling.
- Assemble the Trifle: In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, start by layering half of the brownie cubes at the bottom. Drizzle a generous amount of caramel sauce over the brownie layer. Then spread half of the cheesecake filling evenly over the caramel. Repeat the layers with the remaining brownie cubes, caramel sauce, and cheesecake filling.
- Top and Chill: Finish the trifle by drizzling additional caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with optional chopped nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture and flavor. Cover and chill the assembled trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly before serving.
Notes
- Use a good quality caramel sauce or homemade for best flavor.
- Be sure to cool brownies completely before cutting to avoid crumbling.
- Optional toppings add nice texture; consider toasted pecans or walnuts.
- Can be prepared a day ahead and stored covered in the fridge.
- For a lighter option, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream but whipping may be less firm.
