Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Seasoning
- 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
For Cooking and Topping
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing or Caesar dressing
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels to ensure even browning. Season both sides evenly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika for a balanced flavor.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breasts and sear on each side for about 4–5 minutes until a golden brown crust forms, which locks in moisture.
- Prepare for Baking: Transfer the seared chicken breasts to a baking sheet. Spread a thin layer of ranch or Caesar dressing over the top of each breast to add moisture and tang.
- Add the Parmesan Crust: In a bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and panko breadcrumbs. Press this mixture firmly onto the top of each chicken breast over the dressing, creating a crispy crust as it bakes.
- Top with Provolone: Place one to two slices of provolone cheese over the breadcrumb crust on each chicken breast.
- Bake the Chicken: Bake the assembled chicken breasts in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven, garnish with freshly chopped parsley, and serve immediately for a flavorful and impressive meal.
Notes
- Make sure to pat the chicken dry before seasoning and searing to help achieve a nice crust.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is fully cooked to 165°F internally.
- You can substitute provolone cheese with mozzarella for a different flavor.
- For a lighter option, use a low-fat ranch or Caesar dressing.
- Serve alongside a fresh salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
