Description
This creamy steak pasta combines tender seared steak with a rich, cheesy cream sauce and perfectly cooked pasta for a hearty and satisfying meal. Ideal for a comforting dinner, the dish features simple ingredients like garlic, parmesan, and Italian seasoning to enhance its flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
Steak
- 1 lb steak (ribeye or sirloin)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Pasta
- 8 oz pasta (fettuccine or penne)
Sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter, divided
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Season the steak: Thoroughly season the steak on both sides with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning to infuse flavor.
- Sear the steak: Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and sear it on both sides until it develops a brown crust and is cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest to retain juices.
- Cook the pasta: While the steak rests, boil salted water and cook the pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and minced garlic. Sauté the garlic until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Create the cream sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and let it simmer gently until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
- Add parmesan cheese: Stir in the grated parmesan cheese until it melts completely, creating a smooth, creamy sauce.
- Combine pasta and sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss well to fully coat the pasta with the cream sauce.
- Slice the steak: Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain for tenderness.
- Assemble and serve: Place the sliced steak over the creamy pasta. Serve hot, optionally garnished with extra parmesan cheese or fresh herbs such as parsley.
Notes
- Resting the steak after cooking ensures it stays juicy.
- Use ribeye for a more tender, marbled steak or sirloin for a leaner option.
- For added freshness, garnish with chopped parsley or basil.
- Cook pasta just until al dente to avoid overcooking in the sauce.
- Leftover steak can be substituted if desired.
