Description
This Easy Cinnamon Roll Casserole is a delightful twist on classic cinnamon rolls, perfect for a comforting breakfast or brunch. Soft, fluffy cinnamon roll pieces are baked in a rich custard of milk, eggs, maple syrup, and cinnamon, creating a warm and gooey casserole topped with sweet frosting.
Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Roll Base
- 2 tubes refrigerated cinnamon rolls (8 cinnamon rolls each, 351 grams or 12 oz total)
- ¼ cup salted butter (melted)
Custard Mixture
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup pure maple syrup
- 3 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Topping
- Frosting from the cinnamon roll package
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray. Pour in the melted butter or alternatively, place a stick of butter in the dish and put it in the oven to melt as it preheats.
- Prepare Cinnamon Rolls: Remove the cinnamon rolls from their packaging, reserving the frosting for later use.
- Cut Cinnamon Rolls: Cut each cinnamon roll into approximately ¾-inch pieces and evenly distribute them in the prepared baking dish.
- Make Custard Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, pure maple syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon thoroughly until the eggs are fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
- Combine and Bake: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cut cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed up and light golden brown on top.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the casserole to cool for 10 to 15 minutes after baking. Drizzle the reserved frosting over the top before serving to add extra sweetness and flavor.
Notes
- For best results, ensure cinnamon rolls are cut uniformly to allow even baking.
- You can substitute maple syrup with honey or brown sugar syrup if desired.
- Allow casserole to cool slightly so the frosting melts gently rather than slides off.
- This casserole can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning for a convenient breakfast.
