Description
These Hot Italian Sub Sliders are a flavorful party favorite, combining layers of ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, and spicy peppers on soft dinner rolls with a garlic butter topping. Easy to assemble and baked to golden perfection, they’re ideal for entertaining or a cozy meal.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Sliders:
- 12-pack soft dinner rolls (King’s Hawaiian rolls recommended), halved lengthwise
- 6 oz thinly sliced ham
- 5 oz thinly sliced salami
- 5 oz thinly sliced pepperoni
- 9 slices provolone cheese
- ⅓ cup sliced pepperoncini
- ⅓ cup sliced pickled hot cherry peppers
For the Topping:
- ¼ cup salted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed (fresh recommended)
Optional for Serving:
- 1 cup marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders, ensuring it reaches the perfect temperature for even cooking.
- Assemble the sliders: Lay the bottom halves of the soft dinner rolls on a baking sheet or pan. Layer with ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, sliced pepperoncini, and pickled hot cherry peppers. Cover with the top halves of the rolls.
- Prepare the garlic butter topping: In a small bowl, mix the melted salted butter with Italian seasoning and crushed garlic. Generously brush this flavorful mixture over the tops of the assembled sliders, making sure to cover all the nooks and crannies for maximum taste.
- Bake the sliders: Cover the entire pan with foil to keep moisture in, then bake for 30 minutes. The sliders are done when the tops are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted beautifully.
- Serve warm: Once baked, slice the sliders individually and serve them warm. Optionally, provide marinara sauce on the side for dipping, enhancing the Italian flavors.
Notes
- For a milder flavor, substitute the hot cherry peppers with roasted red peppers or omit them altogether.
- Mozzarella or a provolone-mozzarella blend can be used instead of provolone for a different cheese texture.
- These sliders can be assembled up to 8 hours in advance and refrigerated before baking, making them perfect for meal prep or entertaining.
