  • Author: Marina
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

This Oreo Dump Cake is an easy, decadent dessert featuring layers of chopped Oreo cookies, creamy chocolate pudding, moist chocolate cake mix, and melted butter, baked to perfection and topped with whipped topping and optional chocolate chips and extra Oreos for garnish.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Layer

  • 24 Oreo cookies, roughly chopped

Pudding Layer

  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk

Cake Layer

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Toppings

  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • Extra Oreo cookies for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Prepare Base Layer: Spread the roughly chopped Oreo cookies evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish, creating the foundation for the dessert.
  3. Make Pudding Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Pour this pudding layer evenly over the Oreo cookie base.
  4. Add Cake Mix and Butter: Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the pudding layer. Drizzle the melted unsalted butter over the cake mix, making sure the butter covers as much of the surface as possible to moisten the cake mix while baking.
  5. Bake the Cake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes, or until the top is set and slightly crisp. Once done, remove from oven and allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes.
  6. Add Toppings and Serve: After cooling, spread the whipped topping over the cake surface. Optionally sprinkle mini chocolate chips and extra Oreo cookies on top for added texture and flavor. Serve warm or at room temperature for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • To get clean slices, allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
  • You can substitute vanilla or other flavored instant pudding if desired for a different twist.
  • For extra crunch, add chopped nuts over the pudding layer before adding the cake mix.
  • This cake can be refrigerated overnight and tastes even better the next day.
