Ingredients
Scale
Sandwich Ingredients
- 48 Ritz crackers (about 2 sleeves)
- 12 slices deli ham (cut into quarters)
- 6 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese (cut into quarters)
Glaze Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar (optional, for a sweet glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: Place half of the Ritz crackers on the prepared baking sheet with the salted side facing down. On each cracker, add a quarter slice of ham and a quarter slice of cheese. Top each with another Ritz cracker, salted side up, to form small sandwich stacks.
- Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix the melted unsalted butter with Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds (if using), garlic powder, and honey or brown sugar (if opting for a sweet glaze). Stir until well combined.
- Brush and Bake: Generously brush the tops of each sandwich with the prepared butter glaze using a pastry brush. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 7–9 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the sandwich tops turn golden brown.
- Serve Warm: Remove the sandwiches from the oven and let them cool for 2–3 minutes. Serve warm as delicious finger food that’s perfect for parties or game day snacks.
Notes
- You can customize the sandwiches by using different deli meats or types of cheese according to your preference.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ham with roasted vegetables or plant-based deli slices.
- Poppy seeds are optional but add a nice texture and subtle flavor; feel free to omit if desired.
- The honey or brown sugar in the glaze adds a touch of sweetness but can be left out for a more savory flavor.
- Make sure to watch the sandwiches closely while baking to prevent the crackers from burning.
- These sandwiches are best served warm but can be made ahead and warmed briefly before serving.
