  • Author: Marina
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: About 24 truffles 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Delightfully sweet and creamy Sugar Cookie Truffles combine finely crushed sugar cookies with smooth cream cheese, coated in a luscious vanilla melting wafer shell, and finished with festive sprinkles. This no-bake, easy-to-make treat makes a perfect dessert or party bite for any holiday or celebration.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1012 whole sugar cookies (store-bought, crisp)
  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened to 68°F

Coating and Decoration

  • Vanilla melting wafers (quantity as needed for dipping, about 10-12 oz)
  • Holiday sprinkles (colors to match occasion)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Workspace: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper to prevent sticking and allow easy setting of the truffles.
  2. Process Cookies: Place sugar cookies in a food processor and pulse in 10-second bursts until they form very fine crumbs resembling sand in texture.
  3. Mix Filling: Transfer cookie crumbs to a large mixing bowl. Add the softened cream cheese and mix first with a spoon, then use clean hands to thoroughly combine until the mixture holds together when pressed.
  4. Form Balls: Scoop 1 tablespoon portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms to form smooth spheres. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Initial Chill: Place the baking sheet in the freezer for 15-20 minutes until the balls are firm to the touch.
  6. Melt Coating: Heat the vanilla melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the coating is completely smooth and melted.
  7. Prep Dipping Tools: Modify a plastic fork by breaking off the middle tines and have a toothpick ready to slide the truffles off the fork after dipping.
  8. Dip Truffles: Working with 4-5 chilled balls at a time (keeping the others frozen), fully submerge each ball into the melted coating using the altered fork. Lift and gently tap the fork 3-4 times to remove excess coating, scrape the bottom against the bowl edge, then slide the truffle onto the parchment paper using the toothpick. Immediately add sprinkles before the coating sets.
  9. Set Coating: Return the dipped truffles to the refrigerator for 5 minutes between batches to set the coating quickly.
  10. Drizzle Decoration: Transfer any remaining melted coating into a zip-top bag, snip a small corner, and drizzle the coating decoratively over the set truffles for added visual appeal.

Notes

  • Use store-bought crisp sugar cookies for consistent texture and easier processing into crumbs.
  • Softened cream cheese at 68°F blends smoothly with crumbs for the best texture.
  • Use only melting wafers for coating; avoid substitutions to ensure proper melting and coating results.
  • Dairy-free options can be made by substituting cream cheese with a dairy-free alternative without changing quantities.
  • Shortbread or gingersnap cookies can be substituted if equal crumb volume is maintained.
  • Dark or milk chocolate melting wafers can be used instead of vanilla for different flavors but maintaining dipping properties.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 5 days.
