Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Bites

  • 1,000 g chicken breasts, cubed into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 eggs, whisked
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 tsp salt, divided
  • 2 tsp garlic powder, divided
  • 1 tsp black pepper, divided

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 4 tsp sesame oil
  • 6 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 6 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1.5 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch, mixed with water to form slurry
  • Salt, to taste
  • Lemon juice, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken Pieces: Cube the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and set aside for coating.
  2. Prepare Coating Stations: In separate shallow bowls, place the flour seasoned with 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 0.5 tsp black pepper; whisk the eggs in another bowl; and place the panko breadcrumbs seasoned with remaining 2 tsp salt, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 0.5 tsp black pepper in the last bowl.
  3. Coat Chicken: Dip each chicken piece first into the seasoned flour, shaking off excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the seasoned panko breadcrumbs, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  4. Air Fry Chicken: Arrange the coated chicken bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray them with cooking oil. Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking until the chicken is golden brown and crispy.
  5. Prepare Honey Garlic Sauce: While the chicken cooks, combine sesame oil, crushed garlic, honey, soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, and cornstarch slurry mixed with water in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Season Sauce: Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning by adding salt and fresh lemon juice to balance the flavors as desired.
  7. Toss Chicken in Sauce: Once the chicken bites are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl and toss with the honey garlic sauce until each piece is evenly coated.
  8. Serve: Serve immediately, optionally garnished with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Pair with rice, noodles, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Serve with rice, noodles, or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
  • Add chili flakes to the sauce or coating for extra heat if desired.
  • Substitute chicken thighs for a juicier, more flavorful bite.
  • Ensure chicken pieces are evenly sized for consistent cooking.
  • Lightly spraying the chicken before air frying helps achieve an extra crispy texture.
