Ingredients
Scale
Steak Marinade
- 1 lb sirloin steak
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Bowl Components
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cucumber, diced
- 2 cups cooked grains (brown rice, quinoa, or cauliflower rice)
Tzatziki Sauce
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Garnish
- Fresh parsley or dill
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Coat the sirloin steak thoroughly in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
- Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix the Greek yogurt with grated and drained cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped dill, salt, and pepper. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve to meld the flavors and chill the sauce.
- Cook the Steak: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove steak from marinade and cook for 4–5 minutes on each side, or until desired level of doneness is reached. Once cooked, let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- Assemble the Bowls: Layer the cooked grains on the bottom of each bowl. Top with sliced steak, halved cherry tomatoes, and diced cucumber. Drizzle generously with the chilled tzatziki sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley or dill for extra aroma and color.
Notes
- To ensure tender steak, allow it to rest after cooking before slicing.
- Drain the grated cucumber for tzatziki to prevent watery sauce.
- Cook grains ahead of time to reduce prep time during assembly.
- This recipe can be adapted to use cauliflower rice for a low-carb alternative.
- For a smoky flavor, grilling the steak outside is a great option instead of skillet cooking.
