Ingredients
Scale
Cake Base
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
Filling and Toppings
- 1 cup smooth peanut butter
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1 1/2 cups chopped mini peanut butter cups, divided
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or melting chocolate, melted
- 1/4 cup crushed graham crackers or cookies (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Layer Cake Mix: Pour the dry chocolate cake mix evenly into the prepared baking dish. Do not stir or mix at this stage.
- Add Peanut Butter and Condensed Milk: Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk and melted smooth peanut butter evenly over the cake mix. Use a spoon to lightly swirl them together, creating a marbled effect without fully mixing.
- Add Peanut Butter Cups and Caramel: Scatter half of the chopped mini peanut butter cups evenly over the top, then drizzle with caramel sauce for extra sweetness and gooey texture.
- Bake the Cake: Place the dish uncovered in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. The edges should be set and cake-like, but the center should remain slightly gooey and jiggle when moved.
- Cool and Top: Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes after baking. Then top with the remaining chopped peanut butter cups, drizzle melted chocolate over, and sprinkle with crushed graham crackers or cookies if using.
- Serve: Serve warm for the best gooey experience. Pair with ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence if desired.
Notes
- For the best gooey texture, avoid overbaking; the center should still jiggle slightly when done.
- You can substitute peanut butter with almond butter or cookie butter if preferred.
- Use parchment paper to line your baking dish for easier cleanup and removal, if desired.
- Serve warm for optimal flavor and texture; leftovers can be reheated gently.
