Ingredients
Scale
For the Chicken
- 4 pieces Chicken Thighs (skin-on for crispy texture)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced for maximum flavor infusion)
For the Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Plain Flour (can use cornstarch as gluten-free substitute)
- 3 tablespoons Wholegrain Mustard (Dijon mustard can be used)
- 4 tablespoons Honey (maple syrup for vegan option)
- 200 ml Chicken Stock (low-sodium for healthier choice)
- 100 ml Organic Sweet Chilli Sauce (adjust based on heat preference)
For Serving
- 200 grams Green Beans (broccoli or asparagus are good substitutes)
- 2 cups Steamed Rice (quinoa is a healthy alternative)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan-forced) to ensure it’s ready to bake the chicken perfectly after searing.
- Brown the Chicken: In an ovenproof pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs and sear them for about 4 minutes on each side until they develop a golden, crispy exterior.
- Sauté the Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the pan with the browned chicken and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, infusing the dish with aromatic flavors.
- Add Flour and Whisk Sauce: Sprinkle the flour over the chicken and stir well to combine. Whisk in the honey, wholegrain mustard, chicken stock, and sweet chili sauce to create a rich, flavorful sauce coating the chicken.
- Coat Chicken and Bake: Ensure the chicken thighs are well-coated with the sauce in the pan. Transfer the entire pan to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked through and tender.
- Prepare the Sides and Serve: While chicken bakes, steam the green beans and cook the rice. Once the chicken is done, serve it alongside the steamed green beans and rice for a complete and balanced meal.
Notes
- Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for added flavor and color.
- Adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce to suit your preferred spice level.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute plain flour with cornstarch.
- Maple syrup can be used in place of honey for a vegan-friendly version of the sauce.
- Ensure the chicken thighs are cooked to an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F) for safety.
